Author Jude Mason's
July 2011 Edition
What Jude's been up to:
Hacking, new
doctors, new books, deadlines, and, and...oh my!
Yes, it's been quite a month and one I don't think I'd want to repeat. I do
think the most harrowing was waking up one bright Monday morning only to
find my main email had been hacked. I managed to get into it, and
immediately changed the password, but some damage had already been done.
Ugh! I spent about a week fixing what I could and becoming more and more
upset with how some people treat others. I will never understand what fun it
is to send emails to complete strangers and say horrid things to them in
another's name. I came close to tears several times.
I had two emails hacked plus my FaceBook pages. I spent about a week going
from one promo site I had an account with, changing the password and going
on to the next. I've managed to get it all sorted and back to something like
normal, but it will be a long time before I forget how cruel people can be.
On to the new doctor I'm seeing now. He's not young, by any stretch of the
imagination, and I've having to repeat things I did six months ago, but I
think he's going to be all right. Crossing toes here folks. So far, it's all
good and I do feel pretty darn good for an old broad.
Hubby and I spent last weekend cementing. That means mixing and pouring the
cement for the floor of a shed we've wanted to build for a couple of years.
Two days of mixing, lugging and screeing cement. OMG, I ache in places I
didn't know I had. The good news is it's done. The really good news is, I
don't have to do any more of that for some time. (The man is talking about a
smaller pad further out back, but that's going to be later...much later, I
hope) It does look good though!
One of my fears with the darned cement pad was, will we wake up and have a
deer laying in the middle of it. So, we did string a fence around it, just
for a day. Worked well and I'm happy to say, no footprints at all.
Speaking of deer, Limpy is back and oh my is he gorgeous. He's grown and
doing well and his limp is so much better. He's taken to hanging around with
a doe, and another buck, who has a larger rack but is a smaller deer. He's
very shy, but comes along with Limpy most afternoons for a quick visit.
Still haven't seen any fawns... sigh!
I'm back to writing pretty darn well now. Jazz was sent off to the editor's
again, and returned. A few minor fixes then off he goes again. Poor thing's
going to get sea sick from all this bouncing back and forth. The good news
here is, in amongst the bounces, Jazz wound up on the Publisher's desk.
She's excited about this series, and that thrills the heck out of me. As
soon as I get Jazz sent off again, I'm determined not to wait around for the
real edits to start. Jenna Byrnes and I are both eager to get moving on our
next book together. Frankie's Flame is up next and it's definitely going to
be one hot read and a lot of fun to write.

Reviews
Serena Yates, of QMO Magazine, had
this to say about Jett's Gift: offers a great look at a desperate
situation from the point of view of someone who can help, but is prevented from
doing so. The descriptions of Jett dealing with this are vivid, pulled me in and
held my attention.
